Door Harps

Door Harps originate from the ancient Chinese practice of Feng Shui, and were used as a tool to facilitate the movement of good and bad energy. This idea was adopted from the Swedish approximately 700 years ago, and when they were hung on doors to propel evil spirits from entering. As this Northern European tradition evolved, it was believed that all those who entered would be blessed with good luck, good health and prosperity.

Today, Door Harps are not only an attractive decor item, but similarly welcome you and your guests with warm and gentle chimes. These beautiful door harps are handcrafted by a US artist, and make wonderful housewarming and wedding gifts, as well as gifts for many other occassions.

Door Harps are available in a variety of sizes, with either an inlay or simple design. The inlay harps have a mountain scene made from a variety of contrasting hardwoods. The size of the harp is determined by the number of strings, each playing a different note. All harps are finished with a semi-gloss clear coat to bring out the natural color and beauty of the woods. The acorn striker balls are maple or walnut depending on availability, and the nickel coated piano pins and piano strings can be adjusted with the (included) tuning wrench. Maple plywood is used as backing to keep the harp stiff and straight. Each harp comes with a hang-tag description card.
